Pine essential oil
Aadrea Pine essential oil is a high-quality essential oil derived from the leaves and branchlets of Pinus Palustris or long leaf pine of the Pinus (Pinaceae) family. It is a clear colourless to pale yellow mobile liquid, with a strong woody and sweet scent of pine.
Pine essential oil (also known as Yarmor) has diverse biological activities. It has chemical components that promoted antimicrobial, antiviral , antifungal, antiparasitic, antiviral, anti-allergenic, antispasmodic, antihyperglycemic, anti-inflammatory, and immunomodulatory and wound healing activities. In industry, pine oil is useful for preparation of perfumes and insect repellants, cleaning agents and deodorisers, cosmetics, and creams.
The main active component(s) in a typical oil sample are α-pinene (20-45%), β -pinene (2-35%), δ-3-carene (5-30%), β -phellandrene (2-10%) and others.
Uses:
Hair applications: Pine essential oil can promote hair growth by hydrating the hair follicles. When used regularly, pine oil can nourish hair and increase its volume. It may cleanse, enhance the hair’s natural smoothness and shine, contribute moisture, and protect against dandruff as well as lice. The oil should be blended with your hair oil, 10-15 drops would be sufficient.
Diffuser/Humidifier: You can add 10-15 drops in 100ml of clean water and turn on your diffuser. When used for aromatherapy purposes, Pine oil improves the mood by clearing the mind of stress, energizing the body to help eliminate fatigue, enhancing concentration, and promoting positivity.
Massage and Skin rubs: Dilute 15 drops of pine essential oil in 100ml carrier oil, such as jojoba, coconut, or olive oil. The oil is beneficial for soothing inflammation, soreness, aches, pain, and gout; facilitating the healing of scratches, cuts, wounds, and burns and promoting the regeneration of new skin. Further, the oil aids reduction of pain, muscle fatigue and promotes the body’s detoxification and can help regulate body weight.
Invigorating baths: Use 10-15 drops in your bath and enjoy an invigorating shower. The vapor will also be beneficial for your respiratory tract, clearing mucus from the airways.
Cleaning agents and deodorisers: Pine essential oil can be a very causative agent in cleaning solutions, detergents, deodorisers.
Before Use:
Pine essential oil should not be ingested under any circumstance. Avoid Pine oil if pregnant or breastfeeding.
Side effects and management in event of misuse/ingestion:
Pine essential oil is directly irritating to mucous membranes and is also a central nervous system (CNS) and respiratory depressant. Clinical signs include nausea, hypersalivation, vomiting, and evidence of abdominal pain.
Systemic clinical signs include CNS depression, weakness, ataxia, hypotension, respiratory depression, pneumonitis, pulmonary oedema, myoglobinuria, renal failure, and hepatic failure.
If accidentally ingested, administer egg white, milk, and/or water to dilute the toxicant. Activated charcoal may be helpful. DO NOT induce vomiting but rinse out the mouth and seek medical attention.

Essential oils are volatile and lose their potency when exposed for long periods to oxygen and direct sunlight. Store the oil in its original sealed container, in a cool and dark space.
