Geranium Extract
Geranium essential oil is extracted from the green leaves of Pelargonium graveolens, a plant belonging to the Geraniaceae family. The oil is obtained through the processes of steam distillation and SFE supercritical fluid extraction.
Geranium extract is a pale green yellow liquid. Its scent is herbaceous and sweet. The main constituents of our oil are citronellol and geraniol (1:1) as well as citronellyl formate. Others are isomenthone, and 10-epi-γ-eudesmol as the major constituents.
Indications (benefits from use of product)
Geranium oil possesses anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and antibacterial properties. It is tonic and sedative on the nervous system; reduces feelings of stress, anxiety, sadness, fatigue, and tension, enhances concentration. It also has antiseptic properties that help with skin conditions such as acne, dermatitis. Geranium oil is one of the most expensive essential oils used in the perfumery, flavouring, and cosmetics industries.
How to Use
Aromatherapy: Geranium oil is a healing oil, which is useful in balancing body and mind, and an ideal choice in treating stress related disorders. The oil can be used in a diffuser singly or with other essential oils, using a concentration of up to 5 drops of oil for every 100ml of clean water.
Topical (Skin and body surface) use: Geranium oil is an important skin care oil because it is good in opening skin pores and cleaning oily complexions. For every 3-6 drops of Geranium essential oil, in addition to other essential oils if you prefer a blend, use at least 50ml of carrier oil (Olive Oil, Coconut Oil, Jojoba Oil are excellent local options of carrier oils). Blend with carrier oil of choice prior to massage to minimize any skin sensitivity.
Perfumery and Flavour application: Geranium oil is a very useful perfumery ingredient giving a soft floral note (rosy) to fragrances, improving top note.

Other Uses
Inhalation: Add 2-3 drops in handkerchief, place over nose and inhale. Using a Diffuser/Humidifier: Use three to six drops in diffuser of choice with clean water to generate the vapour.
Cosmetic, Skin and Face: Use the oil for balancing and regulating oil production in the skin and hair to prevent excessive dryness and oiliness. Used in baths, soaps and ointments, the essential oil can revitalise / promote a clear skin and promote relaxation.
Management in event of misuse/ingestion:
Do not ingest Geranium essential oil, especially in neat concentrations. Furthermore, in the event of an allergic reaction, discontinue use of the product and see a doctor, pharmacist, or allergist immediately for a health assessment and appropriate remedial action.
Before Use:
Geranium oil is normally safe when applied to the skin or inside the nose. However, it can cause rash or burning sensation on sensitive skin. Geranium oil can also cause eye irritation if applied to the face too close to the eyes.
Do not use if your are in early pregnancy. The oil can irritate the skin in sensitive individuals. Always do a patch test to confirm compatability with your skin.
We are confident that the product will remain effective if you store properly. Keep pure essential oils in their primary bottle/container, away from direct sunlight, and excessive heat. Do not leave the bottle opened to prevent exposure to oxygen.
