Ginger Extract

Ginger oil is a premium extract from the root tuber or rhyzome of the Zingiber officinale R plant. Traditionally, ginger root is one of the most commonly used spice worldwide with medicinal value. The extract is obtain by steam distillation, supercritical extraction and cold press expression, as alternative ways, each with differing yield and oil quality.

Ginger essential oil finds application in aromatherapy, nutritional enhancement, manufacturing and cosmetics, food preservation, perfumery and pharmaceutical preparations. It is a wholesome addition as a condiment in many food preparations.

The main chemical constituents of Ginger Oil are Camphene, B-Phellandrene, α-Pinene, Geranial, Zingiberene, β-Bisabolene, β-Sesquiphellandrene, and Curcumene.

These constituents give ginger oil its beneficial properties. Of these core constituents, Camphene exhibits anti-oxidant and anti-infl ammatory properties, and helps in soothing pains. B-Phellandrene provides a pleasant peppery, minty, and/or slightly citrusy odor, and exhibits anti-septic, antiviral, bactericidal, and decongestant properties. Pinene has anti-infl ammatory, antiseptic, and expectorant properties, and is a bronchodilator. Geranial is a fragrant ingredient with a rose-like scent, also possesses insecticidal and anti-oxidant effects. Zingiberene is the core fragrance ingredient responsible for the characteristic scent of Ginger. It exhibits anti-viral, anti-oxidant, and antiseptic properties.

Ginger Oil is known for its stimulating and warming effects, and can reduce the feelings of stress, sadness, anxiety, lethargy, agitation, dizziness, and fatigue. The oil as a very good antibacterial, antifungal property and prevents food borne diseases when used in food preparation. Ginger is also reported to prevent rancidity, thereby increasing the shelf life of lipid containing foods. The phytochemicals in ginger oil also possess free radical scavenging, antioxidant and anti peroxidative effects.

In cosmetic or topical applications, the oil can soothe redness and eliminate bacteria, especially cases of acne. It is known to have a protective effect on the skin, inhibiting the signs of skin damage and aging, such as wrinkles and fine lines. Its  an ideal ingredient in revitalizing moisturizers that restore color and radiance to a dull complexion. It promotes hair health, soothing dryness and itchiness characteristic of dandruff. 

Shelf-life Information

Our essential oils, oleoresins, absolutes and hydrosols have been made using an ideal and chemical neutral /free process of either steam distillation, cold press and supercritical extraction. The purity of the oils has been ensured by keeping the amount of hydration/water content and other elements at the lowest level. With this in mind, we are confident that the product will remain effective if you store it in its primary bottle/container, away from direct sunlight, excessive heat and minimize the periods the bottle is opened (during which the oil potentially gets exposed to oxygen).

Your essential oil should remain viable (with the full optimal potential to deliver the intended benefit) for an average of 36 months (3 years)*** from the date of its manufacture.
