Bottlebrush essential oil
Bottlebrush oil is extracted from the spikey bright red flowers and the green leaves and stems of Callistemon viminalis, a flowering plant from family Myrtaceae, through steam distillation. Aadrea Bottlebrush essential oil is pale yellow in colour, with a lemony citrusy earthy scent, reminiscent of the old soapy smells. The active component(s) in a typical oil sample are 1,8-cineole (47.9%–82.0%), α-pinene (2–40%), limonene (2–9%) and α-terpineol (1–13%) and others.
Aadrea Bottlebrush essential oil has good antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory/analgetic, antioxidant, anti-cancer, hepatoprotective, insecticidal and antipyretic properties, and others. The raw plant has been used since ancient times as a spice, but it has also been used in various traditional medical preparations, as well as in cosmetics. The oil is viable for use in aromatherapy, soothing and warming blends body rubs and massage blends, food condiment, and immune boosters, among its very many uses.
Using Bottlebrush Essential Oil
Aromatherapy: Bottlebrush essential oil can be used to help relieve a bad mood or awaken your senses and improve your breathing. Diffuse using 4-5 drops per 100 mL of water for periods not exceeding 45 minutes at a time. You could also apply the oil, topically, along your spine, bottoms of the feet, and pulse points for a warm, awakening sensation. A simple blend of 2 drop of Bottlebrush, 3 drops of lavender, and 2 drops of a citrus essential oil (bergamot, lemon, and orange) in 100ml water in your diffuser can be a great way to recover from nervousness and unease.
Condiment: You may use limited portions (1-3 drops) of the oil to flavour cuisines in soups and salads, curries, poultry, and others. A single drop is in most cases sufficient for a food-meal preparation, or a toothpick dip for the case of beverages per cup. All or some of the internal benefits already outlined above can be achieved when the oil is used as a flavorant. In addition, 1–2 drops of Bottlebrush oil in a smoothie, soup or savoury dish can help ease the discomfort of constipation, diarrhoea and gas.
Other Uses
Perfumery: Bottlebrush essential oil is a middle note and can help to bring together fleeting top notes and heavy base notes. Bottlebrush Oil blends well with most other essential oils including other spice oils, citrus and floral oils.
Blemish control: Place some 1-2 drops of oil in 5ml of jojoba, argan or grapeseed carrier oil; this simple facial rub is great for preventing blemishes (marks create don skin by conditions including acne, papules, and changes in pigmentation), as well as revitalising the skin. Do a patch test first to ensure the oil is suitable for your skin.
Massage and Spa therapy: Bottlebrush oil is beneficial for relieving sore and aching muscles, or to warm up cold feet. Dilute 4-5 drops in 15ml of a good carrier oil (jojoba, grapeseed).
Detoxification: Bottlebrush essential oil is useful for detoxifying your body due to its great antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Take 1–2 drops internally or apply 2–3 drops onto the bottoms of the feet, once daily for a few days.
Caution
Side effects and management in event of misuse/ingestion:
Wilful misuse of Bottlebrush oil can take the form of oral ingestion or use of undiluted concentrate in excess proportions. Decontamination will be necessary. In the case of oral ingestion and allergic reaction, seek the help of a trained medical practitioner. In the case of skin reactions, consult a dermatologist.
Before Use:
Bottlebrush essential oil is strong and can be irritating to some people, especially if inhaled in larger quantities. Always combine it with carrier oil and perform a patch test before topically using on skin. Use in a diffuser in a well-ventilated room and minimise the periods of time (30-45 minutes per session). Avoid using Bottlebrush essential oil around children, pets, or if you are pregnant. Store it out of reach of children.
